Home Learning Overview

As part of our Home Learning Curriculum, we use some fantastic online learning platforms so children can access different aspects of the curriculum at home.

KS1

Phonics

Most pupils in Key Stage One will be accessing our ‘ ReadWriteInc’, Phonics programme and we aim for children to move off of this by the end of Year Two. All pupils will be provided with a decodable book carefully matched to their phonics ability which they should be able to read to you independently. It is important that pupils read this book many times to build their sight vocabulary and their reading fluency. Each time they read it should be recorded in their reading record by an adult.

All pupils who have completed ‘ Read Write Inc ’, will be provided with a school reading book or an online reading book (MyOn), matched to their ability, which can be read with a parent/carer or other adult. Pupils should read for at least 10 minutes a day (5 days a week). This should be recorded in their reading record by an adult. All pupils will also bring home a reading for pleasure book.

Maths

Pupils in Year One are encouraged to practise their number fluency at home at least 2- 3 times a week. Each pupil has their own personal logon and password for an online Maths fluency platform called Numbots.
